Silverback Racing Press Release, January 11, 2008:
I can't tell you how stoked I am to be with a company like Dialled Bikes (www.dialledbikes.com). They really are all about the ride and I couldn't have asked for better support.
I had my Holeshot all done up for the 1st round of the Sourthridge USA winter series (www.southridgeusa.com) and I was waiting for a particular part from one of my sponsors, but their store doesn't open for another couple of weeks to complete my Holeshot. In a desperate effort, I tried an adapter piece to fit the part, but it set the chain so far over, that I only had three useable gears to race with-7,8,9 speed. And that just won't do on a gate.
With the move from England, Christmas, and all of the other adjustments one has to make when moving, I just didn't have the money to buy the part right from the store (And let's face it-the USAF pays good, but not that good!) . I even checked ebay, but there wasn't anything out there.
There are riders out there that take the sponsorship, then ride what ever they want and try to cover up the other companies logo. It's not a one time affiar, it's something they do all season.
I am not one of those people.
I do not take the sponsorship unless I believe in the company and the products they produce. I don't care who else comes along withg offers or even if the company suddenly produces junk-I will not deviate from my promise and ride another companies equipment.
This brings me to my point: I've promised that I'll attend the winter series in Fontana, California. I've written my sponors, to include the USAF, and told them I would attend this event and shoot for the top spot.
I've made a commitment and I just don't back out my commitments which brings my current situation.
I need that perticular component to make the Dialled raceable. With out it, I'll be suffering all day with chain slips and failures and I'll be failing to meet my contract agreement with the other company. Ride my old race bike and I'll be in compliance with the other company, but not living up to what I told Dialled Bikes. Can't back out of the race because the USAF, who's a sponsor, has granted me permission to attend this race and, with out a valid excuse, will not allow me to back out.
Hmmm....
So, I've decided to race my old bike, since it's 100%, for the first round of the Southridge USA series. If you see me at the race, I have not been dropped nor did I drop Dialled Bikes. I am not "skating" over a sponsor for the sake of factory support. I am doing what I said I would do and making the best out of problem situation.
As of last night, the part I need to complete my Dialled Bikes Holeshot has been ordered. It'll arrive on Tuesday of next week and I will be riding the Dialled for the 2 round of the winter series in Fontana, California.
I hope to see everyone at the winter series and wish you all luck in the coming year!
And remember-the Holeshot will be available for demo at the Southridge series, the Nellis BMX, Boulder City BMX, and Bootleg Canyon events!
Thank you for your time.
