Why do I compete?
I love to ride my bicycle. During races, I learn so much more than riding in the hills. I love putting together a fluid run. I am always excited to ride.
Who do you train with?
Most of my riding and training is with my brother, Curtis. It is great to have someone watch you go through a section and then I can do the same. This provides a proven system of feedback for improvement.
How do you help the sport?
I am a riding/ skills coach for dhreno.com. We work together to improve their riding ability. I have assisted in many of the local races. I have been incharge of trail matainance, design, mechanic skills, riding coach and timer. I have cleaned and maitained local trails several times.
Who are some riders you look up to? Past and present.
Past: Nico Voullioz. He had the most determined attitude and approach to competition. He was in to win. Im not sure if he had any fun though.
Present: Eric Carter for his down to earth attitude and the ability to still dominate any event he enters. He has help put fun back into the race circut, with his feedback and ideas.
Greg Minnaar for his detailed and meticulous way of working. You have to be prepared. I like his style of riding as well. Air when needed.
Some advice for Starters/ Beginners.
Have fun, first and always.
