Q&A - Competition
How did you get started?
I got interested in karting when I was around six years old, when I attend the Daytona 500 for my first time. When we got back to Connecticut my older brother researched it and found quarter midgets that I would be able to run, but I decided not to do them because I wanted to get into a type of racing that is also big in the southern states. We found a local track in Pomfret, Connecticut. One weekend we drove up there to watch a few races to see if I was interested and the more I watched the more I wanted to do it. A year later coming back from another Daytona 500 in 2004, on our drive back we stopped at many karting shops looking for what is called a "mini kart" which would be the kart that I would start out in. Ever since then when I first got my kart I've been racing and giving it my all each time I get on the track.
List your competitive highlights:
2004- First year Started out in Mini Karts
2005- Finished 3rd at Pomfret Speedway final standings along with that received the Junior Rookie of the Year Award at Pomfret Speedway. Also finished 2nd in the John Vilano Northeast Speedway Pavement Series final standings.
2006- Won Pomfret Speedway track championship, also I was the first junior drive to have ever won all four races for my class at the Woodstock Fair. When I raced at the Woodstock fairgrounds I also set a new track record for my class. I also won the John Vilano Northeast Speedway Pavement Series championship.
2007- I Won the John Vilano Northeast Speedway Pavement Series Championship, Finished 4th in the lights and heavies for the WKA Northeast Pavement Series in the final standings, and finished 7th in the lights and heavies for the WKA Rage Karts National Speedway Pavement Series final standings. As well as those previous accomplishments I had also set a new track record for Pomfret Speedway for my class.
2008- Won the Pomfret Speedway track championship, Won the WKA Northeast Pavement Series championship in the lights class and finished 2nd in the heavies class in the final points standings, also finished 3rd in the lights class and 5th in the heavies class in the final standings of the WKA Rage Karts National Speedway Pavement Series.
What are you planning for next season?
For the 2009 season I plan on running the WKA Northeast Pavement Series full time, along with running the WKA Rage Karts National Speedway Pavement Series full time. I also plan on running either partial or the full series of the John Vilano Northeast Speedway Pavement Series. One of the more interesting things that I am trying out this year will be running on a dirt track on my weekends that I'm not at a divisional or a national event. I'm looking forward to trying something new and I think I can be just as successful on dirt as I am on pavement. Also this year I have my eyes set on winning at least one national title if not two national titles this year as well as winning both Northeast titles. I would be really happy being able to win four championships this season and I'm going to drive my hardest each time I'm out on the track to get me there.
