Anthony Monte Finishes 2nd in the Long Island Championship Race #3 and 2nd in the overall L.I.K.A Championship.
11.08.09 - On an unusually warm November Sunday morning, Anthony Monte of the Monte Brothers Racing Team took to the track for the final event of the 2009 race season.
This event would be a combination event, Race 3 of the Long Island Championship Series and the Annual Turkey Race, a L.I.K.A tradition where race winners are awarded an actual turkey.
The day could not have been better. Anthony's kart was strong and during the three practice sessions for the day, Anthony would battle with fellow competitor and good friend Dominick Ferrara. a little bumping back and forth but the two drivers, as always, came off the track smiling and congratulated each other. Anthony's 2nd place finish in the race would secure 2nd place in the overall L.I.K.A Championship. This was a great way to end the 2009 season.
Nicholas Monte Makes His Return to Karting
09.19.09 - Nicholas Monte made his return to kart racing in the 80 cc Cadet class after being sidelined for two months with a broken right foot. The Saturday Sprint Schedule allows for several rounds of practice which allowed Nicholas an opportunity to get back into the swing of driving.
The starting order for Race 1 would be determined based on peapick and Nicholas would start in the back of the field. Nicholas would work his way up through the field aided by an early race crash and by lap 7 was in second place. While charging to the front, Nicholas slid through one of the turns and would finish Race 1 in third place.
The starting order for Race 2 would be set by inverting the
starting order from Race 1. Nicholas would start in the pole position and would lead Lap 1 of the race. At Lap 3 an overaggressive competitor attempted a pass at the end of the straightaway, that sent Nicholas into the barriers and taking him out of contention for the race. We were all extremely disappointed that what appeared to be a good return to racing ending this way.
Our next event is scheduled for Sunday, October 18th at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, Ny.

During one of the practice sessions, Anthony felt something strange with his kart and pulled off the track. It was the right decision as his brake disk started to come loose and was rubbing against the caliper. With the assistance of two fellow competitors, the braking system was repair and Anthony was able to go out for the last practice session to ensure everything was working properly.

While trying to catch the leaders, Nicholas was bumped from behind in one of the turns which would send him spinning off the track. After regaining control of the kart Nicholas was given his position back but unfortunately would finish in 4th place.
