Overview

How I got started

My cousin bought a 2000 YZ80 and was having way more fun than I was on my Blaster (quad) and I really liked riding his bike so in the summer right before I went into 8th grade I bought a 2000 Honda CR 125 and just rode at home in the field and I started to migrate to a few open practices in the fall at local tracks. The following spring I bought a leftover 2003 KTM 125SX off of Ebay for $3000 still new and spent the summer riding some practices locally and doing a lot of riding at my house. I did my first race ever on August 8th 2004 at The Elko Motocross track in Elko, MN and from that day on I was addicted. I only ran 4 other races that fall and that`s when I knew I had the competitive edge and this was what I was going to be doing next season. So I sold the two stroke and bought my 05 YZ250F in January 2005 and I raced my first full season of Motocross last year in 125C and Schoolboy.

Goals for the Future

Bio

What inspires you to compete?

I`m inspired to compete because I know I can go out each weekend and get better and better because i"ve only been riding a short time and each race is a stepping stone to getting where I want to be, and I believe I can accomplish my goals in racing.

Why do you like this sport?

This sport is so great for me in many ways but if I had to pinpoint on main reason is the freedom you get. Your your own boss and coach. When your on the line there`s no team effort like in football, you simply race to the first turn and let the riders sepearate and run their own race. You`re the one who is in control and you get to make all the decisions. Another reason I love the sport is that there`s nothing more competitive than it. Football games, basettball etc. just don`t have the energy that racing motocross has, it`s awesome!

Describe your style...

The B class has changed my riding style alone as I am much more aggressive now than I was a year ago. If needed, I will make something happen quickly as there isn`t enough time in a short 5 lap moto to lay back and wait for something to happen, you have to just do it! I try to ride smart at the same time and I always look to the faster riders in practice to find the best lines to take.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I have upped my level of competiton this year and with that, I have upped my level of training and committment outside of racing so I can perform better on the track. I do a lot of cycling in the summer and fall and I will bike 12-15 miles 5 days out of the week. In the winter my excercise will be composed of mostly running on the treadmill in 6 mile/night sessions and I mix in an assortment of low weight, high rep upper body activites through weight lifting.

Why do you compete?

To me, there`s just nothing like being on the line with up to 41 othe riders awaiting that 30 second board to go sideways. The adrenaline rush is amazing and I just love competition and there`s no better way for me to compete. Racing makes me feel good. It`s just a great time and I always look to bigger things.

Competitive Highlights

For 2006 I brought home 5th place in the state in the 16-24B open class and the whole season except for the last 3 weeks(I got my new RMZ450) I was racing my 250F in that class. On Septebmer 17,2006 I won my first B race of the year besides the mud race I won earlier and I was so pumped because I had worked hard all season for that moment. I won 3 of my 4 motos that day and that has really fueled me for the last few weeks and I am ready to win. Getting top ten finishes at Millville both days on Memorial weekend in the 75+ rider 125B class was another great moment for me this year.
