What happens when kids are turned lose on the track without being taught how

This past weekend I was practicing and a kid on a yz 85 was riding in the middle of the track and as I came up to pass him on the left. He then decided to get off the track, so he turned in front of me as I was coming off a jump. Of course I hit him in the side of the bike and it throw me. That's about all that I remember. I was told that I also hit a four wheeler that was crossing the track. Both of the kids were ok but I went to the hospital and the doc told me that I was going to miss the next three months. So dads I ask that you teach your kids before turning them lose at the track.
