Q&A - Self Interview
Work
I am currently a level 1 going on level 2 automotive apprentice. I work full time at a small shop and do everything from brakes, oil changes, and well anything else that comes in. My favorite types of jobs are things like Intake manifold gasket replacement jobs because they normally take a day or so depending on the vehicle
My Interests
motocross, mountain biking, driving, working on vehicles, drawing/painting, gaming on xbox live, working out at the gym, music, paintball, hunting, dogs because they are cool, hanging out with friends, travelling, and probably some others that I cant think of right now.
My Rides
2007 rmz 250
Bought new on April 5th 2007
Bone stock other than softer suspension, graphics kit and red michelin tires.
1998 Chevy Silverado K1500
Lifted 6" suspension, 2"body
35" toyo tires
I'm gonna make this one bad ass truck when I am done with it, but first on my list is side steps
Favorite riders
My most favorite rider of all time is Travis Pastrana. If I could spend a day with him or even just meet him I would be the happiest person in the world. He has accomplished so much and is an inspiring person. My favorite female rider is Jolene Van Vugt.
Thanks
Id like to put aside a little spot to give thanks to a few people. My mom is number one on that list. Without her I wouldnt have my racing. I wouldnt have even got a bike without her help. She has always been there for me. The next person I have to give thanks to is my neighbour Brian. He taught me everything I need to know about my bike and how to take care and maintain it. What he did to help me made me realize what it was I wanted to do with my life, which is work as a mechanic. Then I would like to send thanks to all the volunteers at the tracks I have raced. Though I dont know you all in person, your efforts have made it possible for me to experience the best sport out there, thank you all for all your hard work.
Q&A - Personal
Why do you like this sport?
I like the sport of motocross because its not like a huge team sport. Like ya, there are teams, but individual results are ultimately up to the rider. Also the people that you meet at the track are amazing and helpful.
Some Personal Information About Me:
Aside from motocross I occasionally do downhill and free ride mountain biking on my 2006 Norco Sasquatch. I also hunt and fish.
I am currently in college for level 1 Automotive service technician and am hoping to complete an apprentiship in the next 4 years. Also if you would like to chat with me my Hotmail is Motofreek21@hotmail.com. I am on often enough with the weather being fairly cold so ya just add me :P
What inspires you to compete?
Well the last two and a half years that I have competed, it was mostly a show up and see what happens thing. Not this year though. I have a friend that is moving up to the junior class from being in the 80's for a while. Meanwhile Ive been stuck with the beginners for two years and this will be my third. I really want to race against my friend by the end of this year so I am already in training with at least 2-3 days at the gym each week and I know if I work hard enough I will get where I need to be.
Well that inspires me and the fact that motocross is the most challenging and most exciting sport out there
How's Life Treating You?
Great. Turned 19 in April and was able to buy my first brand new bike. Raced all 6 of the spring races but didnt do as well as I would have liked due to improperly set up suspension and the fact that I was working everyday between races and not getting much practice.
Right now I work part time doing delivery driving for my mom's business after school... Yea thats right, school. Well really, College. I am currently battling it out for top of the class in my Automotive Service Tech class and after that I hope to get an apprentiship and go all the way with that.
Now christmas is coming up and all I can think of is motocross in the spring. Unfortunately the weather isnt the greatest, but I still get out every once in a while.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Well there are a few but I will tell you about the one that sticks in my mind the most. It was my third ever race in Port Alberni, first moto, and I lined up between 2 of the faster women in my class. Well the gate dropped and I kept with them for about a second and a half, then I noticed my front end was riding high and then I was staring up at the sky thinking "what the heck just happened?". Well I looped out pretty good... crack my rear fender but that was about it.... All I could do was laugh at myself on that one though. I later told a couple of friends about that and they all pretty much said the same thing "ohhhh! That was you!". It was a good laugh, I just wish my mom got it on camera.
