Let's Talk Racing
How did you get started?
I originally started r/c racing when I was about 6 years old. However, we got out of the sport to race motocross for the next 13 years. When I got hurt in 2006 I picked up r/c fulltime.
List your competitive highlights:
RC Pro Series - 1/10 Gas Truck - 3rd Place
Evapco Challenge - 1/8 Expert Buggy - 1st Place
RC Pro Series - Expert Arena Truck - 5th Place
What are you planning for next season?
Obviously I can't say that I will be here or there, but what I can say is that I am going to be working hard to work my way to the top. Whether it is next week, next month, or next season...I will get there.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Being accepted as 1 of only 50 drivers to represent TEAM USA at the 2008 IFMAR World Championships.
What About You?
What inspires you to compete?
You know when you get done mowing the lawn after being out in the scorching sun for hours, and you look back and say, "YES! I DID IT!"....it's that very feeling of accomplishment and success that drives me to compete.
Do you like to travel? What's your best (clean) road trip story?
22 hour flight to Shenyang, China. I am starving for food, and can't wait to arrive at the airport for some true CHINESE FOOD. So we get off the plane, and we sit down at this little restraunt. They waitress brings us menus in Chinese, and we just point and hope for the best. My mom is given some little bread rolls, my grandma is given a salad...and me being the hungriest of all...I am given a bowl of soup with ACTUAL pond turtles floating in it! I kid you not...the english translation to whatever I pointed at is actually "Boiled Soft Turtle Soup".
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
Yes. In r/c racing it's not really about weight lifting and running the mile, so instead I practice several days out of the week, and prep my cars on the off days for the weekend of racing.
Employment / Experience Summary
When I got hurt racing motocross I decided to combine my love of drawing and stickers to open my own graphics company. I am currently the owner and team manager for 247DesignWorks. We manufacture custom r/c graphics from name stickers, body wraps, wing wraps, all the way to trophy wraps. Check out www.247DesignWorks.net
What do you want to be when you grow up?
The BEST driver in the world...what else?!
No but seriously, I plan to continue growing my racing career on and off the track, expand and grow the graphics business, and I have always wanted to own and operate a motocross track.
