Q&A - Personal

What inspires you to compete?

The combination of my love for wakeboarding and my competitive personality inspire me to compete. I simply love to wakeboard anywhere, at anytime and I feel competition is a great way to assess my progress and skill level as a wakeboarder. Competition also helps me to see how I compare to other riders and further inspires me to always be getting better at wakeboarding.

Why do you like this sport?

I love wakeboarding because everything you do wakeboarding can always be made unique and made your own. No two wakeboarders are alike and I really like the way you can easily shape your own riding style to be unique for you. I also love wakeboarding for the feeling you get when you land something new, whether it be a new invert, spin, or even a new variation of a trick with a different grab or poke. The feeling I get when I land a new trick is simply unbeatable and I love the rush of wakeboarding more than anything else in life.

Describe your style...

I think this is a tough question in that I do not feel styles can be describes in words. I think someone's style is something you simply have to see through pictures, videos, and, most importantly, seeing them ride to get a true sense of their riding style. However, I would like to describe my style as having a lot of pokes, grabs, and shiftys. I have always believed that if you do a trick, you should make it your own by somehow poking, grabbing, or tweaking it in some way to make it cooler than normal and different than everyone else. I like to put my own twist on all of my tricks.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I train in different ways year round and have a very hectic training schedule. During my wakeboarding season (about late april to early october), I ride as much as I can, about 2-3 a week, and go to The Wakeboard Camp in Clermont, Florida for a week to always be getting better at wakeboarding and to have all the fun I can. During the school year, I involve myself in the tumbling, diving, and gymnastics teams at school to better my air awareness and flipping/spinning abilities. During the winter, I also snowboard as much as I can, which turns out to be about once every two weeks. Also, whenever the weather permits, I spend about an hour on my trampoline everyday from April to November, perfecting tricks, learning new tricks, and bettering my air awarness and flipping/spinning abilities. I also spend about 20 minutes to a half hour everyday on my indo board, working on my balance. I also work at a public pool where, on my breaks, I swim about 3-4 times a week to stay in shape and stay strong for wakeboarding. I also work out at home and at a gym a few times a week also to stay strong.

How's Life Treating You?

I feel life has been treating me great. I have been blessed with the ability to involve myself in wakeboarding and all of these related activities I do and have been blessed to have always done very well in school. I greatly appreciate all that I have been given and am quite happy with and proud of the way my life is going.
