Well, I moved to the Expert class today. I moved myself up early because I just wasn`t motivated in Inter. Now, it`s put up or shut up. I said it, I did it. No BS, no slacking...all determination. I know it`s going to be a BIG challenge for a while to get accutomed to the class, but I`m ready. I wouldn`t have moved up if not, and I`m looking forward to a great 2007!

This is how races are SUPPOSED to go!

It was good. Kinda chilly, maybe 50 degrees, but we had a full rack in 28+. I`m sick as a dog today, so I really could have done with a few degrees warmer, but hey, we take what we can get.

I had gate 8 first round, my local rival had gate 1. This is the guy I`ve been half a bike length behind all year. The gate drops and I soft footed a little bit. I always do from lane 8 just in case I need to set up for a first turn move in advance. Well, I`m out front by about a tire knobbie so I really layed into it. The turbos kicked in and I was a friggin` rocket to the finish line. Cool, I can rest my crud packed lungs untill the main.

The main comes around, and we all know the first turn is a little dry and dusty, so it`s slippery. I`m in 6, my rival in 7. Awesome. I`ve got the pull on him, just gotta keep him from slipping under me if I low/high block him. I`ve got a small lead into the turn, but he`s railing it HARD. I went for the block and my front tire slid out just ever so slightly. Luckily I was pointed UP the berm so I recovered quickly, but my rival had gotten half a bike on me. 2nd straight is my achilles heel, but I wasn`t about to let it hinder me this time (or ever again). I pulled the first double (!) and cranked the backside and across the flat to the next double. Sweet, I had reeled in the lead again. 2nd turn I have the outside, rival has the inside. He swept up to block me, I dove in on him and we went into third straight even. He was set up on the inside of a very tight 3rd turn and we were hauling! I manualed the triple step up to try and get an inch on him and close off the line. He pulled a good move and shot straight up the turn, slowing us both down, but closing my line none the less. Final straight. I wanted to bust out some of the fancy manuals I`ve been working on down the rhythm section, but I knew that I could also lose a lot of ground if I made the smallest mistake doing it. It was close, but he ended up getting me by about half a bike length.

All in all I wasn`t unhappy. I lost due to a couple of very minor mistakes on my part. I proved that he`s not faster than me, he just out raced me. This time. That season will come to an end...soon.

BTW, 3rd through 8th were a good half a straight behind us...
