08-07-07 Well on sunday, my son and I where jumping here at the house. We had been at it for awhile and I took another run. Landed wrong and went down. KO I was out. When I came to, my rids where very sore, torn up arms and face, lots of blood. Yep, guessed it; no helmet. After getting cleaned up and having my wife check me out, it looked like I had only brusded my rids. Very sore on Monday, so I took the day off to rest up. Went back to work on Tuesday and all was good till about 1:00 PM. Out of no where, a sneeze snuck up on me. At the same time of the sneeze, two snaps where heard and the pain kicked in. I drove myself home and my wife took me to the hospital. Two broken rids. More time off work. No bikes for a month. Good by state chaipionship race in three weeks. It's not like I was looking for a top finish, but have gotten a third at state the last two years. We have some fast guys in our age group. (Ok so I'm just slow)  It's all good. Everything happens for a reason, I don't know what that reason is and I don't like it but it's all ok.

I have learned my lesson about safety gear. Don't get complacent. If you ride BMX, you will crash sooner or later. Try to minimize the damage. I would still have the broken rids but not the road rash on my face. Best of luck to everyone. Be safe and ride hard.

Durango Cortez weekend 6-18-07

If you have not had the chance to take in a big race weekend at Cortez and Durango, Do it soon. The tracks are well maintained, the people are the great and the scenery is second to none. My son Jacob had the best weekend of all of us. With two-second place finishes in the state qualifiers, bettering a DNQ. I only raced in Cortez and got third, bettering a DNQ. Tasha and Sharon did not have a great race weekend.

The Durango area rocks. My wife and I would love to live in that area and we be working towards being able to do that.

Fri night in Montrose, Co. Not enough of the old guys so drew a class with the kids. DNQ, Wow got to train more.

Sat in Grand Junction, Co. Drew total points with Walker Lowe and Don Summers. Third was all i had in me after not being on a bike for a couple weeks.

Sun in Grand Junction, Co. Race for life. Another thrid place finish. My son Jacob got second, my wife and daughter both got thirds. Great week-end and no one crashed, it's all good.

Next week end three doudle points races, two of them are state quilifiers.

No race news for the weekend. Went to Wisconsin to visit my sisters and attend my nephew's graduation. The rest of my family traveled there also, so we did the family family reunion thing. Lots of fun. We flew though, so no racing. If all works out well this weekend, will hit a race in Montrose & Grand Junction. I'm looking forward to getting back on my bikes. You leave work for a week and it seams like you come back to three weeks worth of work.

Right on. We got to race today in Grand Junction. Just  for the record; Nick Adams and Tim Grip are doing a great job on this track. It's come a long way and those guys have some great goals for the track. I drew total points. Round one (Iron man) Don Somers got the snap but sliped a pedal in turn two, I was able to capitalize on his misfortune and won that round. Round two Don made no mistakes and lead me round the track to the finish line. Going into the main, we both had one win. In the main when the gate droped, Don was gone. (You would never know that Don is 52.) In turn two Tim got under me for second, I passed him in the rythmes, but could not catch Don though. Second place: I'll take it. Jacob got 2nd. Tasha got second, she had a great day. Sharon didn't have a good day.

Bummer. Rained out today in Montrose. Not looking real good for Sunday in Grand Junction. Got to spend the day with my wonderful wife and kids. Life is good. Oh, went scooter shoping, this could be fun.
