Overview

 Jacob (JP) Pearlman is a high school sophomore living in Carlsbad, California.  In addition to being an accomplished kart racer, he is an honor student with strong interests in math, industrial design and asian studies.  Jacob's goal is a career in motorsports, if not behind the wheel, then as an engineer or designer at top level of motorsports.

In addition to racing, JP enjoys coaching, mentoring and tuning for young racers in the Kid Kart and Cadet classes.    Away from the track, his hobbies include traveling with his family,  trains (especially Japanese Bullet Trains), drawing and keeping his racing skills sharp at the K1Speed indoor karting centers.

Racing Biography

Jacob was born in Orlando, Florida - just one hour away from the World Center of Speed at Daytona.  When JP was 4 years old, his family moved to the suburbs of San Diego, California.  At the age of 9, Jacob got his first taste of competitive racing when he won the district championship in Boyscout Pinewood Derby.

At the age of 10, after working his parents over for two years, Jacob attended go-kart racing school at the Amago racetrack.  After two seaons of local club racing, Jacob moved up to the Junior 2 (ages 11-15) ranks in 2005 and began competiting at the state, regional and national levels.   2005 would see Jacob become the youngest qualifier in North America for the Redbull drivers search runoffs.

2006 was a breakout year for Jacob's young racing career.   He earned twelve main feature wins including victories in International Karting Federation (IKF) regional competition and the King Taco Open at California Speedway.  Jacob also earned 3 class championships with Los Angeles Kart Club (LAKC) and was runner-up in a fourth class.

This year, Jacob moved up to compete primarliy in the Rotax Max Challenge presented by Champ Car.  In addition to two Junior Rotax Podiums and qualifying race win at the Rotax Grand Nationals, JP has a win, many podiums and several poles in local compeition with the Tri-C Karters, the nations largest IKF sanctioned kart club.

In 2008, Jacob will move up to the Senior ranks and race Rotax International.  He will compete in the Rotax Race of the Americas series, the Gatorz Karting Cup and select events at the national, regional and local levels.  I addition to his kart racing, Jacob will focus on preparing and racing his SCCA Mazda Pro-7.
