I wanted to start out by thanking Eric Carter who helped me get started on a training program which included weights, rode rides, cross crountry rides, etc. and my mom who took me on a 5 week epic downhill mountain biking adventure. She took me to all the races she could and included a stop in Whistler, British Columbia, Black Rock Mtn. and Post Canyon in Oregon, with my final stop at the US National Downhill Championship in Granby, CO. I was only racing Downhill so I could focus on just one event which I hoped would give me an advantage. Downhill practice on Thursday and Friday went really well and I felt like I could really win the race. The course was chewed up and destroyed with lots of rocks and ruts making for a fun and yet tiring course. On Saturday I was still feeling good and I was confident that I could win. On my race run I made a few mistakes and didn't pedal at every chance I could, which put me in 10th place. This was a huge let down for me but it taught me that I need to pedal more and work on pushing my self to the edge of my riding limits during races in order to win. I still have a few more races this season, and plan on training hard this off season to be even better prepared for next year.

My name is Justin Wyche and this summer I have been traveling between MSC and Fluidride race series. My first stop was in Crested Butte for their Wildflower Rush and I placed 3rd in Cat 1 16-18. My next stop was the Fluidride race in Mt. Hood. I was surprised to see how old the lift was but it seemed to hold up to all of the bikers. The course started out with a steep shale section and then the course when into a steep fire road section with flat out turns and rocks. After these sections is where I think that the course got sick. The second part of the course started out with a gnarly fast rock garden and then dropped deep into the woods. This part was steep, loamy, and off chamber with lots of roots. After this section of the trail came the last part which was a lot of pedaling but luckily was on a slight down slope so the pedaling was fairly easy. I ended up getting First place in the end which was awesome because it was another win and also the fact of that being the first race that I have won out of my local state of California. Can’t wait to see everyone at the next races. Thanks to all of my sponsors and future sponsors for supporting me but especially Division 26.

My name is Justin Wyche and I just recently raced at the Fontana City National in Fontana City, CA. Since this was one of the biggest Southride races, Donny Jackson decided to make the course a split course in order to give the expert and pros a more difficult course. The top of the course started out in a steep loose and rocky descent which then went into some corners and a little drop. After that you would ride over a small plato which then went into the waterfall section. This is a steep rock slab which leads into a steep and rocky descent with some corners. After that was the wall section again. On Sat. I felt very good during practice and I knew that the course suited me because of the rocks and steep descents. On Sun.(race day) the shuttle that I was in got delayed for some reason and caused me to almost be late for my start time. I sprinted to the top and made it just in time. My race run went great and I finished the race in First place. I would like to thenk Donny Jackson for putting on such a good race and I would like to thank, Kenda Tires, Division 26 Clothing, 661, and Utopia Optics for supporting me in my races.

I just recently competed in the Southridge Shimano Winter Series #5 race held in Fontana,CA. I went to Fontana Saturday to practice the course. The top of the course started into a tight left hand burm and then went into some burmed courners which were quite fun. After that a new line had been cut out whick was fairly steep and difficult. Then you whent into some corners whick lead you out onto the wall(a long sprinting section). On Sunday I did a few practice runs but woke up late because of the time change. The last practice run I had felt great and gave me the confidence that I could win again. My race run went great and I finished FIRST by three seconds. I would just like to thank Donny Jaskson for putting on the race and I would like to thank all of my sponsors for supporting me. I can't wait for the next race and I hope to see you guys out there. My name is Justin Wyche and I just recently raced at Fontana, CA for the Winter Series #3 race which took place on Feb. 7-8. I drove out on Friday to check out the course and to set up my big RV the my mom just rented. when i got to the course I was surprised to see a steep waterfall section in the course which was right next to the old NORBA waterfall section. As I walked up the course some more to inspect the conditions of the course I found the course to be in good condition and to look to be very fun. On Saturday I helped build a new Chumba F5 downhill bike that I would be racing on and when I went up for practice the course and it had rained the night before so conditions were perfect. On Sunday I knew that I could win on the new Chumba F5 downhill bike that I was riding and I couldn't wait for my race run. I was the second person to go down the course in my class JR. Expert and my run went great. The Chumba performed better than expected and I won my race. I would like to thank Chumba Womba for letting me ride a test bike and Division 26 for supporting me in my race. I can't wait for the race coming up this weekend in Bolder City, NV.

I just recently race at Brian Head for the National Finals. I competed in the Downhill and Dual Slalom as always. On Friday I was going up the chairlift to the top of the mountain for downhill practice and saw one of the sections in the course that stuck out. I was a huge slate rock the size of a small hill in which the course went through. It turned out to be a fun but technical rock garden into a tight left hand turn around a bolder. The rest of the course was fast and technical and proved to be a good course. The dual slalom was fast and fun with a good amount of burms and jumps. During the dual slalom race I blew out a turn and had to jump off my bike. On the next run I almost made up the full 1 sec advantage but was off by about .2 of a sec. I ended up in 3rd place. In the downhill race I had an ok run and placed 6th. Overall in downhill I placed 2nd and this is my first full Nationals series. I would like to thank all of my sponsors for coming through for me and helping me to place so well overall. I would especially like to thank Turner for providing me with an awesome downhill race bike. I would also like to say how amazing my Maxxis tires have been for me. I can’t wait to continue racing next season.

I just competed at the DeerValley norba. This was the hardest course I have ever ridden in my life. The combination of loose rocks, steep descents, and drops made this my course of choice. It suited me very well because I have been riding on steep rough trails my whole life. The course started out with a high speed fire road section that went into the mini niagara falls (a steep rock garden) which then goes back into the trees. Almost right after that you have to go through the barney ruble rock section. After this section in my race run I hit a tree and crashed. I didn’t loose too much time so I still pushed on. About 30 or so seconds after this was the bed rock drop. It consists of a 10 foot drop with a rock lip. After this there are the switch backs and then a final drop to the finish. Right before the final drop there was a silly loose tight corner that I washed out in and lost all my speed. I sprinted to the finish and wound up in second place. I then raced in the dual slalom and received 2nd place again. I competed in Jr.X 16 and under in the Dh and Jr.X 18 and under in the dual slalom. I am now in the lead for points in the Jr.X category overall.

I recently raced at The Chile Challenge in Angel Fire, New Mexico. This was my first time racing a long downhill course and I loved it. I am use to racing at Fontana, Ca. which has some good DH sections, but is very different than this. I would describe the course as starting off with rock garden sections and roots through the trees broken up by fast fire-roads with a wooden bridge and some jumps. On Saturday I hit my derailleur and bent it, so on race day I was only able to use gears 1 through 7. This slowed me down in the fast fire-road sections. I placed 10th in Jr.X. My next race will be in Deer Valley, Utah at the end of June.
