Who Is Steve Hansen
Steve Hansen was born in 1961 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the older of two children born to Ken and Nola Hansen. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Bassett, Nebraska where the family resides today. Steve is married to wife Jayme of twelve years and they have one a daughter Jenna who is now nine years old.
Steve’s love for racing began at an early age when he would go to the local tracks and watch his father race. While his father only raced for a few years the seed was planted and Steve looked forward to the day he would compete in racing.
Steve’s driving career began in 1985 when he purchased a used car from a friend. The season was short lived as an accident damaged the car beyond repair. The following year, Steve built a car to compete in the entry level Hobby Stock Division. Running only 7 of the 14 races that year Steve placed 14th out of 38 cars in the division. While he did not win a race Steve consistently scored top five and top ten finishes. Steve competed in the Hobby Stock division for three years then in 1989 he purchased his first dirt late model. Steve has remained in the dirt late model division since then except for brief stints from 2001 to 2004 as a part time pit crewman in the NASCAR Goody’s Dash Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the ASA Series.
Steve career is highlighted with 46 wins to date. He has missed winning two points titles by a combined five points. Steve has raced a very limited schedule for the past three years do to job and family obligations.
Steve was a volunteer fireman for eleven years, a volunteer Jr. High Football Coach and T-Ball Coach. Besides racing Steve’s favorite pass times are camping with family, traveling and college football.
