How did you get started?

My Dad raced for a short time when I was little. When I was in highschool I knew people who raced. I played football until I got hurt in college then I got in to racing hard core!!

List your competitive highlights

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

My family -- hands down the best accomplishment I have done.

2008 Update

Well Last Friday night August 1st we finally got to go to the track. It was kinda hot & humid but not as bad as we thought it was going to be. I had to pick one of this regions biggest late model races to have a "test-n-tune day" but we were pleased with what we accomplished. Some of the biggest names in this region were there. Names like Terry Phillips, Al Purkey, Gary Webb, Delbet Smith, Kyle Berck, Kelly Boen, just to name a few.

The engine we have in the car has way more power than anything I have ran for a long time and I was not sure what gear to have in the car. I had way too deep of gear in for hot laps so I kept dinging the rev limiter. We changed the gear for the heat race and wouldn't ya know first time out for the season I drew pole position. Well normally I 'd be ecstatic but first time out this year and I have Joe Kosiski lined up behind me. Terry Phillips, who won, was also in our heat. I took the flag ok - alittle behind outside pole and I wiggled coming off the corner and went from first to eighth in a hurry. Did alright for the rest of the race but was still buzzing the rev limiter. We ended up 8th out of 10 cars so did feel to bad about that.

They were really rushing the program along so we didn't have a chance to make the chassis adjustments I would have liked too. Ray & Tom - the guy's who built our engine - were tuning on the motor so we made a gear change and a panhard bar adjustment. We were scheduled to go out in the 1st B (they had three consi races) so i had to tag the back or the 3rd B. The chassis adjustment I made was the wrong thing to do because the car pushed (would not turn) and was a bear to drive. We did get the gear closer so I finally stayed off the rev limiter. I was up a farther that what our final results show but I made a driving error that cost a decent finish.

Still all in all we were pleased with the way the night turned out. The car didn't get beat up - motor ran good and we have a base to go from. Plus with 53 cars and a lot of heavy hitters there and please keep in mind this was our first night out we didn't feel to bad. Also with the way they hustled the show along and we did not have time to make a couple more adjustments we felt pretty good with how we came out.

Our next night of racing will be August 15th at Wagner Speedway. This is a weekly show so hopefully less pressure.

I want to thank my dad Ken, along with Tom Bloomstrand and Ray Maul and his son for all of their help. Tom tabbed our team the Geriatric Racing Team so I will have to get some stickers made LOL but these guy's did a great job with the motor and getting everything ready on the car. THANKS GUY"S!!!!

With that the full results run down is listed below.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and I will keep you posted on team news.

Take care
Steve
