FiberwerX Racing just returned from a trip to Mexico. We entered our primary 7open Ranger in the CODE San Louis 250. Looking for some seat time, confirm our estimated top speeds, and to put a few race miles on the vehicle before the SCORE San Felipe 250 taking place on March 9-11 2007, FiberwerX cruised to an impressive OVERALL VICTORY beating out nearly 100 entries.
The crew arrived to the CODE contingency located in down town San Louis, Sonora Mexico on the Friday night before race day. After rolling through tech registration and passing a few cases of ice cold Rockstars out to the race fans, locals, Tecate Girls and our competitors, we took off to set up our main pit near mile marker 85.
In a barren and very dark desert and only a few hours to get some rest and prerun the course, Jason McNeil and Co-Driver Nik Krous hauled *** around the un-familiar track to plot the course on the GPS. The Light Force 170 STRIKERs lit up the dessert and were able to guide our vehicle back to the pit for some well-deserved sleep.
The 1st four wheeled vehicle took off from the start finish at 10:00am. FiberwerX Racing entered as 708 started 17th off the line. By the end of lap 1 the truck had moved up to 3rd position overall. When co-driver Nik Krous announced they were 30 seconds out from the main pit, the crew jumped into place for a 10-gallon splash of TORCO 110 Racing Fuel, and double co-driver swapped. Leaving the pit we discovered 2nd gear had burned up. JuanCO advised Jason to keep the truck moving and continue the pace.
Laps 2 and 3 quickly were over and according to the CODE official time sheet, 708 was only running 10 minutes behind the fast lap of the class, which was recorded as 1 hour 26 minutes and set by FiberwerX Racing on lap 1.
FiberwerX Racing crossed the finish line on lap 3 in 1st overall position by time. The Socko class 1 Chenoweth crossed for 2nd overall 2 minutes behind FiberwerX.
We have our sites set on the grueling SCORE San Felipe 250. FiberwerX is now preparing to again dominate Baja.
Thanks to all the FiberwerX Racing Team Partners. Rockstar, for energizing the crew members and race fans. Fox Shoxs, for keeping the trucks enormous 37” tires planted in the dessert sand grabbing for traction. Light Force, for making the most powerful performance lighting systems available. KMC Wheels for making the strongest wheels to conquer any terrain. DJ Safety, for keeping our driver and co-drivers secure and in place to control the racecar. JuanCO Performance Engineering, for making an incredibly powerful vehicle. Thanks to every one else that supports our team and cheers us on.
