Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

I started riding as a little kid, nothing competitive. After High school, I tried my hand at bicycle racing on road courses. I did a couple of events in the Seattle Washington area. Then I tried my hand at some criterium courses. After moving around I lost touch with road racing. Once settled in Arizona I started looking for ways to apply myself outside the office (stress reliever). I rediscovered biking, only this time Mt Biking. My first bike was a 2000 Wal-Mart special, which after riding for 6 months, I decided to upgrade to a better fitting bike. After talking extensively with my LBS, I got online and purchased everything to build a custom Mt Bike. My first real Mt Bike build was a hard tail (GT Aggressor). I road it several times per week on the local trails (mainly SoMo). I have since upgraded twice I am now riding an Intense Spider 29er (sweet ride). Finally after about a year I decided to try my hand at racing Cross Country at the "Dust Devil". This being my first race I was excited when I finished the race in one piece (without crashing) and did so with a better time than previously ridden on the course. I have been hooked ever since.

List your competitive highlights:

Three podiums in '08 for MBAA, with a 5th at the National event. with my best split times ever for the course.

What are you planning for next season?

1). Continue to race both the MBAA and Dust Devil Series in Arizona........ 2). Improve upon my course times and race finishes over previous year... 3). Continue to have fun, that is what it is all about.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Just having the ability to get out and ride....
