RideClean Elite Cycling
Tour of Utah
"The Toughest Stage Race in America"
August 18-23, 2009

Look closely...some serious pro teams in the break that formed off these attacks during Stage 2 of the Tour of Utah. But we of course have some special LUV for those good cats with the RideClean organization. Yeah, that's one of them - right up front looking hot. Did you notice those custom Somec bikes with Fluid painted on them?
FLUID sponsored RideClean was the only amateur team represented in the break that formed and stayed away for 60 miles. Yee-haw! The team also had the top amateur finisher after 6 grueling days in the saddle.
The best part is the philosophy that powers this team. Seriously check this trailer out. I'm a sucker for a good sports montage and this one might be up there with some of those weep-worthy NBA finals' highlight reels.
By taking the “ride clean and the rest will follow” approach, RideClean brings their positive focus to the pure sport of cycling and support for clean athletes, ultimately working to reconnect the discouraged and disillusioned to the beauty of the sport.
To help support all this goodness we provide RideClean with only the best recovery drink on the planet!
RideClean and the rest will follow...
Cheers!

Imperial Beach Triathlon
August 23, 2009
Imperial Beach, CA
Imperial Beach Triathlon is anything by long, and definitely flat. The 500 meter swim, 15Km bike, and 5Km run was under an hour for the fast cats, but is a perfect distance to get beginners into the sport! The race boasts a 1000 person sellout every year, and is a gem. It is also in a wonderful location, and resides about 3 miles from the Mexico border! Fluid was on tap and a guest of our friends at Breakaway Training! Coach Felipe (pictured above) was 2nd overall! Also, 2 senior members of the Cal Poly Triathlon Team showed up to rock the course! Tim and Marc, we love you guys! Until next time, have a great week of training! You never know where we will spring up next! Unless you visit our national event calendar, hehe! Cheers! Rich, Dave, and all of Team Fluid.

Santa Cruz Sprint Triathlon
August 9th, 2009
Santa Cruz, California
Santa Cruz Sprint Triathlon was an amazing event! It was a beautiful day in Santa Cruz for this sold out sprint triathlon that brought out locals, and professional triathletes to show off their speed on the short course! The head high surf started the swim with some excitement, and the fast bike and run courses were described as "simply perfect" by one of the sponsored Fluid athletes. Fluid was served all day long right at the finish line! One of Fluid's dealers, Tri Shop Santa Cruz, was there in the expo, along with their good friends from Skinfit!
The race featured the great Becky Lavelle taking the win, with triathlon model Kristen Hilger taking second. It was amazing to see these fast women our racing! This race sold out almost 6 weeks ago, and will sell out even faster next year as the race director has let it be known that the event is a boutique production, and she intends on keeping the service high! Well, we sure thought the event was amazing, and will be back next year!
Check out Finish Line Productions for more information on how you can race next year!
Folsom Olympic Distance Triathlon
August 9, 2009
Folsom, California
The wonderful people at USA productions did not let us down! This event has blessed the town of Folsom for many years, and continues to be one of the best triathlons in the country. Perfect race conditions makes this an outstanding race for beginner and professional alike!
Fluid athletes took 5 podium spots at this race including the overall winner John Dahlz! Rounding out the podium finishes were: Evan Rudd (4th overall, 1st 20-24), Dan Rudd (3rd Age Group), Chris Jackson (10th overall, 2nd 20-24), and Doreen Pinelli (1st Age Group).
It was a wonderful day with good people, good racing, and ice cold Fluid. Yeehaw! See you next year, and don't forget to check out USA Productions for all your racing needs!
Cheers!
Dave, Rich, and all of Team Fluid.

The fastest woman in the world today is Maggie Vessey! She posted a dramatic win at the Manaco GP last weekend running the 800m in
1:57.84This is the fastest time run my a woman this year, and 7th fastest ever. She will be representing the USA at the World Championships in Berlin in just a couple weeks! Maggie is a Cal Poly SLO Alumni, and currently lives in Santa Cruz where you can find her training with some of the locals including the UCSC head coach Adam Boothe. Word on the street tells us that Maggie uses Fluid for her training. We certainly hope so, and are proud of her regardless! Congrats Maggie, you deserve it!

40th Annual Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Run - 10K
Morro Bay, Ca
July 11, 2009 This was a fantastic race with everyone from Olympic Trialists to Retire walkers. Over 1000 runners made the trek along the ocean from the rock in Morro Bay, to the Pier in Cayucos. It was a beautiful Saturday morning with a nice marine layer to keep the runners cool. Nancy from Fresno said " I love this run, and it gives me a chance to get out to the ocean for a weekend." Fluid was on tap, and ice cold for the thirsty runners, and boy did they love it! This is a wonderful event put on by the Parks and Rec Department, and all proceeds are used for youth sports programs. So who is Brian Waterbury you ask? He was the original founder of the event, and a Cal Poly Alumnus. Just like us! You can learn more about the race HERE, and sign up for next year! Cheers! Rich, Dave, and all of Team Fluid.

Samantha Fugate
Laingsburg, MI
Triathlete Sam is our highlighted athlete this week, and boy does she deserve it! In her last 3 races she has been the overall female winner twice, and age group (20-24) winner 3 times. Not a bad start to a season huh? Sam is from the great state of Michigan where she is a proud Spartan as a Grad Student at Michigan State. In August she plans on racing her first Half - Ironman, and we are excited to see how well she does! Here is a quote from Sam's Loop'd Profile: " So now when people ask me what I do, I answer "I'm a triathlete." That gets surprised looks and looks that say "you're crazy!" but I can't imagine doing anything else. There is something great about the pain, the endurance and finishing. It's alluring and addicting and I love it."
You can learn more about Sam HERE. IF you are a business looking to work with a new athlete, I'm sure she would love to hear from you!
As always, we admire and are truly grateful to all of our athletes for their hard work, and representing us so darn well!
Cheers!
Rich, Dave, and all of Team Fluid.

San Luis Obispo Downtown Criterium San Luis Obispo, CA July 5, 2009 Ahhhh! What a wonderful day of racing! Perfect weather, in a perfect town, with a fast downtown criterium. Can life really get any better than that? July 5th marked the 3rd annual SLO Downtown Criterium brought to us by our friends at Nimble Creative Events. It was another perfect day with a huge vendor fair, and a spectacular turn-out of racers. Even Fluid founder Dave Brown was in the Cat 5 field! The racing was fierce in the Pro events as both the Men and Women Cat 1/2 races shared $10,000 in proze money. Fluid was available all day to the racers, and we had quite a few of our sponsored teams in the field. This included the local SLO-Nexus, as well as Suami's and UCC from Sand Diego. It was a great day! You can see more pictures of the event HERE! We hope you had a wonderful 4th of July. If you have a good story to tell, we would love to hear about your weekend! Cheers! Rch, Dave, and all of Team Fluid.
