I started mountain biking about 6 years ago when I started working part time at Supergo Bikes.  In my heart, I was BMX until I die but, the guys got me out and it was fun.  Over time, I started riding a lot of cross country but, my BMX background made me very aggressive on the down hills and I found myself pushing myself harder and harder over the past couple of years.  November of 2006, I went to go check out the Southridge Challenge in Fontana, CA and did one practice downhill run and I was hooked.  At the same time, I was humbled.  I thought it was going to be way easier than what it was.  In a sense, I had to learn my mountain bike all over again.

I continue to ride competitively for the love of mountain biking and BMX.  I also work at a community college and it's fun to run circles around the 18 - 22 year olds while playing intramural sports because of the shape that I am in from riding my bike.  Most of all, I am a role model to my students by showing them that you are never to old to pick a new sport or do anything that is mostly dominated by younger people and excel at it.

In 2006, I was asked to ride in a 100 mile bike ride for Multiple Sclerosis with a co-worker. I wasn't so sure if I really wanted to do it but, she informed me that she was doing the ride in honor of her mother who has the terrible disease. I agreed to be her riding partner and we collectively raised nearly $3500.00. After finishing, I was so impressed by the whole event that I chose to do it again the following year and will continue to do so as long as I'm available.
