At twenty-three years of age, David Padrón is a Californian living in Los Angeles. David, (pronounced da-veed) gets his name and pronunciation from his Mexican-American descent. David began drifting in late 2004 and in this short time has earned his 2007 Formula D License, becoming the top ranked amateur driver in the USA at the Formula Drift Pro-Am Nationals and has received acknowledgements from many top professional drivers such as: Taka Aono, Hiro Sumida, Chris Forsberg and Formula Drift judges: Alex Pfeiffer and Andy Yen. With less experience than many of his peers, David has relied on his abilities to adapt and learn quickly in a car as well as his strong drive and professionalism in order to reach a high level in a short period of time.
Dozens of challenges presented themselves on the road to becoming the Formula D Pro-Am National Champion, David persevered with one goal in mind: to do the best. His “secret power” is determination, which allows him to conquer large obstacles. When the pressure is high and things get tough, this “secret power” comes to life and David shines. His style of driving reflects his personality and can best be described as energetic and exciting. While he is always hungry for new challenges on the track, David’s attitude off the track is both genuine and professional. David is also deeply woven into the tightly knit community that is drifting. He is never afraid to make new friends and will always lend a hand whenever possible.
A self-proclaimed nerd, David epitomizes the Internet savvy, technology integrated, video gamer lifestyle. When he was unable to attend driving events, he would practice drifting using video games to help keep his mind sharp. Over the years, David has become a fixture in the online automotive communities. David’s passion for drifting and the Internet led his current position as a full partner in one of the largest drifting news and coverage websites, DriftLive.com. When he isn’t preparing for or attending driving events, he is managing online drifting communities or playing video games to further hone his course vision and strategy. An opinion leader in the worlds of video gaming, tech devices and Internet trends, David is looked to for guidance and advice by his drifting peers and fans.
