Why do you like this sport?
Surfing is more than a sport… it’s a lifestyle. I don’t care how corny it sounds, but surfing literally revitalizes me and inspires me to persevere through any situation, good or bad. The thrill & excitement drawn from surfing is the driving factor of my “interest” in it. You don’t have to think about yesterday or tomorrow, all you can think about is… “Now”, catching the last wave of the next set, pulling in to that barrel or simply relaxing in the ocean. Besides the joy of surfing, it provides for young ones like myself a means of being active and having fun. Like most kids my age, I could be getting high, doing drugs, or just sitting at home not realizing that… there is an abundance of possibilities surrounding me. Instead, I choose to accept the things that are handed to me, that being a surfboard… and an ocean.
Describe your style...
My life… HECTIC… My lifeSTYLE… cruise. As the world permits … Life in general is not meant to be easy, everyone has their problems and difficulties, but I choose not to allow those kinds of problems affect me, or the people around me, in a negative sense. My life could never be summed up in a few paragraphs/novels haha, but I never allow my life to interfere with my lifeSTYLE. My “style” is always positive… whether im surfing or dealing with everyday circumstances, I choose to look forward and never allow yesterday to bring me down (another corny saying haha). In essence, surfing is my lifeSTYLE, being my incentive to never give up.
How's Life Treating You?
Life doesn’t really “treat” me to anything… (That’s what I was taught anyway) which I’m totally cool with! I don’t expect anything to be handed to me, but if it is, then I will gladly receive it with a big lively smile on my face haha. When I want something bad enough, I’ll go out and grab it, otherwise it can wait. My focus is to improve and increase the quality of my surfing and I plan on achieving it. Any obstacle thrown in front of me only improves my willingness to continue and progress.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
I guess anytime I surf is considered training. My sole purpose for surfing is to get better , so I surf as much as possible, and if I’m not… than I’m “training” my mind and preparing it for the next time I will be surfing haha. My schedule is very basic consisting of three or four activities I take part in on a regular basis... Preaching… Working… and that third one... I think its called surfing or something lol (and the fourth being a few corny jokes every now and then haha).
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Right now, my only plan as far as a career is surfing. As a fifteen year old kid, I can’t say that I am completely interested in working or “being an adult,” but I do have plans for when that time comes. I guess… “Realistically”… I can’t say that I would like to be a famous “pro” surfer… but what do parents know lol (shhh). Even if the surfing stardom doesn’t work out… I do know that I will never give up my passion for surfing. I am currently working for my mom’s cleaning company, doing windows and pressure washing which has given me useful qualities necessary for “adulthood”, but I don’t plan to be cleaning forever haha.

Howzit Hawaiian??? You got megaloads of homework, and that makes me laugh. I'm trying to work a bunch of days in the beginning of break so that i can get my new phone. And we still got time to surf in the afternoon!! By the time you get done work, and i get done we can just go cruise down to the beach with our new Go Pro Camera and get some NUTS PICS!!! |
