There are many that dream of becoming race car drivers, but only a few have the ambition and the drive to make that dream a reality. Brenton Thornton is one of those people. His talent and fearless aspirations have made him one of the most popular drivers in late model racing. He pushes his race car to the limits every time and there isn’t a race track in America that he can’t conquer. Thornton often jokes that he was “born to race” and as soon as his foot touches the throttle he makes people believe this to be true. Here’s his story… Brenton Thornton burst onto the scene at the age of 7, beginning in Fast Kids Go Karts(United Kids Karting Series). His natural talent was obvious winning 17 races and ending his run in the series 2nd place overall. In the early 2000’s Thornton established himself as a contender moving into the Late Model and 4 Cylinder Series within the ARCA Series and Various other track sanctioned series in the Midwest, winning 8 races and 13 top 10's through 2007.
In late 2007, Brenton took the first steps toward his ultimate goal of racing in a NASCAR series by becoming a signed development driver with Lafferty Motorsports, owner of the #89 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Truck. During the hectic racing schedule Brenton continued to pursue his education and received a degree in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering. In January of 2009 Brenton Thornton along with his wife Angela established Thornton Motorsports, Inc. with the hope of helping other aspiring race car drivers in urban areas pursue their dreams. To date Brenton continues to race in the Late Model and the ASA Series and is continuing to grow in his profession.
