Overview

How I got started

In 2002 I entered my very first race and I finished 1st in the 250 novice class. I didn`t race again until 2003 when I entered my first W.O.R.C.S. race (my second race ever) in the ATV C class. At the end of the 2003 season I finished 2nd in points. 2004 was a good first real season for me as I ended up 2nd place once again in points. I have learned a lot and for 2005 finished out the year with a 4th Place in Pro-Am and a 2nd place in Open A (not too bad for a first year A rider). For 2006 I ended up finishing 2nd place in the Sport 15-29 A class. 2007 was not a good year either with a bike swtich mid season and mechanical issuses but the two times I qualified and raced the pro-am class both were top efforts most notably the podium in Lake Havasu. 2008 was more of the same in the WORCS series with problems dues to bike failure such as gettin water sucked into the motor and blowing it up for Mesquite and putting my bike out of service for most of the season. Had to ride my brothers as well as my old quad but I put in a couple solid rides. I have shifted my focus and began training this summer when the quads were down and the weather was hot. I am in better shape than ever and ready to finish out the remaining 2008 races on the podium.

Goals for 2009

My goal for the 2009 season is to finish consistently so that I will be one of the top 3 riders of the Pro-Am class in the WORCS series. I would also like to make top 3 in one of the other A classes such as Production or Open A.

Bio

Some Personal Information About Me:

I am now in my 3rd year of college at UNLV working towards my bachelors degree in marketing. I am currently rooming in the dorms with WORCS champion and current pro racer Justin Waters and we workout and train together. I had graduated high school with honors and my last college semester GPA was 3.17. I am working hard and having fun furthering my education. I also like to coach my younger brother when we go riding and give him tips to help maintain his ATV. I also like looking through magazines and racing websites to further my knowledge about racing and all the new products coming out on the market. I also like to spend some time with photoshop making posters with sponsor logos and thinking of creative ways to get the people who support me some well deserved exposure.

Describe your style...

My style is all my own and I try to improve it with every ride. I’m a tall racer so I try to use my height (6’2”) and weight (190) to my advantage to make the quad do exactly what I want. I try to ride more motocross and get some smooth style on the track and over the jumps and try to keep a flow around the course. One area I’d like to improve is my starts, I usually get a mid-pack jump and have to work my way up, this works out alright for me because I like to take my time on the first lap, look for the fast lines, get a feel for the course and when lap two rolls around I go all out.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I train harder now than ever before. I have realized that this sport is so much more physical and intense that I thought it could be so I have to make myself that much tougher. During the season I go to the gym 3-5 times a week and focus primarily on cardio but also have strength training days as well. I use equipment like rowing machines and exercise bikes. The cardio work has drastically improved my endurance and I can only imagine where I’ll be if I keep it up. For the off season I will ride more to dial in the new equipment and also throw in a little more weight lifting to gain some strength. My schedule is looking pretty busy with college and racing to balance out but it is more than worth it to me. WORCS is my specialty when it comes to racing but I love to try local motocross and desert events when time and budget allow. I look at the pro racers and admire them while I race along side them in the main on Sunday and I know that with enough hard work I can get to that level.

How's Life Treating You?

Life is treating me very well right now, I am in the best shape I have ever been. I realize the advantage gained by being in top form. I also have new equipment and more of budget to work with than in the past. Also my skills are greatly improving along with my ability to test new products and make significant adjustments to the ATV to better improve my lap times. I am also a full time student at UNLV and do my best to maintain good grades along with my ATV and my physical shape and it is tough, but more than worth the effort. My 2007  and 2008 seasons were not what I had hoped for or expected, but my Pro-Am performances showed my potential for my goals with a 3rd place and 6th place finishes in 2007 and my desent finishes for 2008. I know I have what it takes to be top 3, right now I just have to further dial in my equipment and gain a little bit of speed and get in even better shape. So basically…life is good!
