I have just recently completed round 1 in Phoenix, Az.
On Saturday, it was the offroad section. I like the motocross more but am doing this class since I am there anyways. I came out with over a minute lead and was looking good when my quad over-heated. I finished the class with a 2nd place.
On Sunday, it was the motocross. We came out and set up in our lines, 7 lines total, preparing for an anxious start. I was on line 2, the 70cc SS class with the 70cc open class on line 1. The flag dropped and line 1 went...30 seconds later it dropped again and we were off. We had to run for 30 minutes and I was feeling good. Soon I took over the lead and was catching the class in front of me. I road hard, trying to pick them off one by one. I knew I had to stay low over the tabletops in order to maintain speed. Accomplishing this, I continued to gain on the leader. As the checkered flag flew, I only had 2 I was unable to run down. However, for the overall lap times I was the fastest overall out of all 7 classes. I finished 10 seconds behind the leader and was right behind the 2nd place as I came through the checkered flag. I was very excited when I came off the track. I was proud of myself for riding hard and doing everything I have been taught. A well earned first place on the podium with a first place overall for the race. I hope to come out just as strong for round 2.
