A New Year a new season on the bike. I recently just arrived back at college having been on x-mas break for just over 3 weeks. Spent that time working and purchasing some parts for the bike. Nothing big just a new derailuer cable/housing since I couldn't shift. Finally got it swapped out and rode for the first time this winter on a strangely warm beautiful day in Ohio (somewhere around 50 degrees) Put in 20 miles which i'm suprised I lasted that long. Rode with a fellow Cyclocross rider who toasted us on the straight sprints but all in all it was a ride i've been wishing for and finally achieved since I finished my season early last year. I hope to drive the two hours home every once in a while to get back on my bike and remind the legs how they need to work in the summer. Last year I totaled 535 miles of riding from May 13th to Aug. 5th. This year i'm hoping to ride around 650 miles and improve my overall racing mindset. Also looking at having the team race in the Mohican 100mi/100k becuase our regional Trek Rep. Bob has been asking us if we would do so. We would more likely be racing in the 100k race. It will still be a big race with such names as Chris Eatough, Tinker Juaez, and new comer this year Floyd Landis. Yes the TdF "winner" himself (still yet to be determined) Further information will be provided.
Also Got to take a trip up to Cleveland to visit Ray's MTB Park and let me tell you it was a blast would go up in a heartbeat and ride that track again. The place was so open and other than a couple of run ins with other bikes it was a blast. Opening day was great, got some SRAM swag and the enviornment of all the riders just enjoying one common thing brought evenone together. Hung out with pro 2Niner rider and good friend Travis Saeler as well as watched pro rider Nat Ross do his thing. Thanks alot to Bob Meyers for the golden tickets ha ha. Loved every min. and wish i wouldn't have left. I encourage everyone to try it once if you get the chance it's totally worth it.
