Q&A - Personal

What inspires you to compete?

The energy, the excitement and the sheer adrenaline of racing. Having to push myself to constantly improve and hone my skills. I am fortunate to have a great team to hang with and race with and know at the end of the day that win or lose - we can all still be cool with each other!

How's Life Treating You?

After I graduated from high school I spent two years in college in Steamboat Springs where I skied everyday and rode gravity in the spring and summer - what could be better than that? I have a job and am making it on my own going to school and hitting the Sunset jumps whenever I can.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Grow up - what is that? I will be skiing and riding gravity until my body gives out!

Q&A - Personal

What inspires you to compete?

The adrenaline that I feel when I am racing is a big part of why I love to race - nothing compares. It is more than winning - it is about competing with your team and racing against your friends knowing in the end whether you beat them or not - the friendship will always be there.

How's Life Treating You?

For two years I lived and went to college in Steamboat, Colorado were I skied more than I ever had - I was living the dream - skiing in the winter and racing gravity in the summer. This year I am working, living on my own and going to school - I am out on my own and making it. I have a job that is awesome, had a great 2009 gravity season and am getting ready to hit the slopes this winter - what could be better than that?

What inspires you to compete?

Grow up - who wants to do that? I will ride until my body cannot take it any more!

Overview

How I got started

When I was five years old, I got my first motorcycle and spent a lot of time at the dirt track. I saw a kid riding a bike on the mini track so I started riding bikes at the BMX course. I rode my first gravity event when I was 14 and got hooked on the ability to push myself to ride hard and support my fellow team members.

Bio

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

During the 2004 season I was racing at Telluride and doing well during practice. A bunch of us went to go pirate trails and I went over my handle bars and broke my collar bone.

Describe your style...

I try to keep as flowing and smooth as I can all the time.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

During the biking season, I go to the school`s weight room three times per week. I shuttle the down hill trails around my house as often as I can. I also dirt jump at The Fix in Boulder and spend time at the Sunset Jumps. I have also been coached by Gene Hamilton and Lee McCormick, as well as Curtis Keene.

Music?

I listen to music all the time. I have my Ipod with me all the time. I would not be able to flow when I ride without music. I listen to all kinds of music, but mostly underground rap and hip hop and reggae.

Do you like to travel? What's your best (clean) road trip story?

I love to be on the road going to races. This summer, after a race in Telluride, I packed up with my team in the team`s van and drove to Canada - non-stop for 24 hours - to make it to Crankworks. I rode Whistler for two week straight and got faster and better every day.

Competitive Highlights

When I did my first race back in 2003 in the beginner category, I podiumed at almost all of the local events. Then I went to the National Championships in Durango, Colorado and took 2nd. For the 2005 season I started riding Jr. Sport and I consistently podium in the first three races so I moved up to Jr. Expert where I was 10th in Colorado and 16th place in the 16 & under Jr. Expert category on the NORBA circuit.   During the 2007 season I won 1st place in Jr. Expert.
