Fund Rai$ing
Just throwing this out there. My local club (one of the favorite tracks on the West Coast Region 11 circuit) is beginning to be put in between a rock and a hard place with some "new" extremely large operating costs [as of 2007] potentially needing to be put back to the members in some form, to keep everything operating at the highest level.
As everyone is probably very familiar with in any type of racing, sport or hobby. It gets to be more and more difficult for a club to raise dues ever so slightly or increase race day fee's to cover these rising costs without eventually turning people away even though the out-of-pocket is still very reasonable.
No matter how small of an amount it may be we all know that someone will have issue with it. Myself just like most of us, don't like prices to go up (but I guarantee this club is one of the best bang-for-your-bucks around dollar for dollar).
Anyway, I was hoping to get some idea's from anyone that may have been in similar situations and how you tend to try to raise money. Trust me, NO idea is too far out there or a dumb idea, ok maybe a few may be waaaaay out there (you know who you are) but we have to be careful as an organization because the lease we have is very strict so it makes it very tough so we have to get "creative", hence me throwing this out there to anyone that may read this.
I will be going to a meeting regarding this exact topic Tuesday the 2nd of April. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. I know personally I would be willing to help out and do what ever it takes to keep this particular club up on its feet at a lower operating cost to members but just as strong for kart racers to enjoy many many years to come.......
What ever happens to come of this, or of any ideas anyone has I will post in here as well.
Thanks in advance for any / all help!

Upcoming Race
::Update:: Event was canceled due to rain / snow, will run on our make-up date in May.
The next race for championship points (Race #2 of 10) is just around the corner for me on April 15th (so long as there are no weather issues or schedule conflicts with the Region 11 races). We will be running a "new-to-me" track layout so this should be interesting to say the least on trying to get my set-up "just right".
Fortunately for me, most of the other drivers either have never run this layout, or have not ran it in nearly 3 or 4 years so that should help level the playing field.
Either way, I am just happy to be out there racing........
I will post results as usual once the event is over and the "official" results are in.
