On Hiatus...
Hi everyone! You may have noticed that I haven't posted any race results in a few weeks. We had a major wrench thrown into our race season hopes. After the last Super Series race, we torn down the transmission, torque converter and motor to find that we had spun the rear main bearing. How this happened, we don't know. All we know is that because it spun around on the crank and then began to fuse back on, we had major overheating issues (caused by friction) and caused our top end to dwindle to about 11 second quarter mile passes (down from 9.90). Scary stuff, I know, but luckily we caught it before it did much damage. So, the crankshaft is being refurbished and my race car is in a thousand pieces strewn all across the state. We are slowly getting pieces back together, but still waiting on the crank. We gave it to the best crankshaft guy in the country (he even works on John Force's cranks!), but he is so slammed that we are planning to buy a new one and sell the old one when it comes back. We also found that the engine builders who re-built our motor at the start of this season, didn't actually do what they billed us for. We found that we still had the old valve springs, one valve was bent, the heads have some scratches, the front seal was leaking, the crank wasn't tightened down and they didn't machine the valves. It is very upsetting to us, but we have to look forward and fix these issues so we can go play again. We hope to be up and running for the race on June 27th. If all is well, we shold be well into 9.6 second passes. In the meantime, I have been running the Cobra and keeping in the points chase for Trophy, but my brother races it in Super Pro, so my points are too far back in that class to matter. Hopefully, with a BRAND NEW car, we can look forward to total domination next season. As for this season...I JUST WANT TO DRIVE!!
