What got you into snowboarding?
When I was around 4, I used to skip (standing sideways) all around the house, jumping on and off furniture and everything I could think of outside. Nobody I knew--including myself--had ever heard of snowboarding since we lived in Texas and it was 1984. Snowboarding, as a sport, was still in it's infancy. All I knew was that I was imagining surfing and skateboarding at the same time. I did this until I was like 10 or so cause it was alot of fun and actual skateboarding was not as fun and the skateboard didn't do what I wanted it to do and I couldn't surf because of the lack of any bodies of water around. So fast forward to 1998 when snowboarding was first introduced into the Olympics and that was the first time I saw snowboarding and wanted to try it out one day. But it would be another five years before I would get the chance. I was in the Army stationed in South Korea and our company took a little R & R trip to Muju Resort. I have been riding ever since.
What has snowboarding done for you?
It has given me the freedom to finding out who I am and what I can accomplish.
Who influences you?
Mostly anyone who has tasted dirt and had life throw crap at them and managed to come out on top. Anyone, who against all odds, has followed their dream and has become the success they are today.
What's more important--contests or filming?
I believe they each have they own spot in the sport, but I think just riding is best. It's where we all started from and I still think there is alot of unexplored territory left in freeriding.
What direction do you think snowboarding is headed in?
Well, not much of any direction if we don't get this Global Warming problem under control. I want my children and future generations to be able to enjoy what I do. That won't happen if we don't change our attitudes and ways and start doing right by the earth.
