Q&A - Competition
How did you get started?
I started when I was 13, now that was in 1978, BMX was just getting started in St. Louis. I raced for three years until I got my Driver's License, then it was Drag Racing! It wasn't unitl Fall, 2005 that I started BMX racing again....with five of my six kids!
List your competitive highlights:
2008 was a better year, a 1st and 2nd at Mid-America Nationals,in class, a 1st in US Open in class, 1st in Redline Cup Championship in Class and a 2nd in cruiser.
What are you planning for next season?
As always, for 2009 season, I want to hit MORE Nationals, I have missed Rockford 3 years in a row! I would also like to make all of my mains at ROC and Grands. It will be interesting this year with the New 41& over class for 20".
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment has been overcoming the "Racing Dad" stereotype. Even though I like being called "Papa G", because I am proud of my children, I want to be recognized as a significant competitor to any age that I race ( locally I mostly race 16 - 27 experts... they are fast!).
