Competition

How did you get started?

My neighbor showed me his shiny new mountain bike and I was hooked from then on.

List your competitive highlights

All my competitive experiences were good ones. Though I'd say the race I was most excited about after completing was my second or third downhill race in junior 15-18 at the Snake River Fat Tire festival in Keystone. My nerves finally calmed and I managed to win after a few mediocre races preceding it.

What are you planning for next season?

To race PRO in 4X, Slalom, and Downhill and have a solid season. My goal is to place in the top three in at least one regional race, top ten at a NORBA national race, and to qualify at one World Cup (Top 80).

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Getting into engineering school at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Second to that I would say that moving quickly up the ranks in gravity mountain biking has been a big accomplishment.

Overview

Started Racing XC back when I was 14 and moved quickly into Junior Expert.  However, this  quick move proved discouraging and I quickly became burnt out.  At the age of 16 I got my first DH bike and did 3 races my first season.  I wound up winning the last one of the season and moved into Junior Expert for DH.  I raced the next season and placed upper-mid pack in all of the events I did.  Unfortunately, I had a lingering wrist injury and had to take the next season off.  I came back the following season and raced in the Expert 19-24 Class.  I had a pretty good season and got my semi-pro upgrade.  This season will be my first season in the semi-pro class and I hope to move to pro by the end of the season.  I have trained a great deal this off season, spending significant time in the gym and on the road gaining valuable fitness.
