I started racing ATVs in 2008 after watching a couple of the local races in the IATVHSS
(www.iatvhss.com) series run by Andy Kyner. I debated on racing with the first year racers and ended up sticking it out with the utility class since they allowed Renegades in with the rest of the utility machines rather than having a separate U2 class.
The IATVHSS group as a whole is awesome. The organizers, landowners, track crew, scoring, and all the other racers do an excellent job of pulling together some great events for us here in the Midwest. The efforts have been noticed and some of the bigger names have actually attended our events. Darryl Rath of Rath Racing attended a handful of the races in 2008 and was a welcomed addition as it helps us get the name out and adds to the interest.
As a whole in 2008, I came away better than expected with a 6th overall in the utility class. I went in with the intentions of being in the top half for the year since it was my first season of racing and my first opportunity to ride a IRS utility much. I've learned a little throughout the year and have a much better idea of what I need to do to be successful in 2009.
